A Taste Of Honey
Breaking out with a vengeance in the late 1970's, A Taste Of Honey, led by founder, primary songwriter and bassist Janice-Marie Johnson, saw their first single “Boogie Oogie Oogie” head directly to the top of the pop charts. Distinguished from many of their ‘disco’ counterparts by solid musicianship and an incendiary stage show, the group followed up with charting single “Do It Good” and found itself with the Best New Artist Grammy in 1980. The group continued to rack up chart singles, including “Rescue Me” and the well chosen cover of Asian crossover hit “Sukiyaki,” expanding on its already impressive musical palette. Spirit recently landed “Boogie Oogie” as the end title in Fox’ Roll Bounce and on the new NBC hit My Name Is Earl, and is the title song for a new music driven Electronic Arts video game.
