ABC TV tapped an early ’60s Johnny Mathis gem, “Sweet Thursday”, to promote a trio of Shonda Rhimes dramas airing Thursday nights this fall.
The three shows, GREY’S ANATOMY, SCANDAL, and the forthcoming HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER, are expected to represent a ratings juggernaut for the Disney-owned net. The Jerry Livingston/Paul Webster song, which barely dented the pop charts on release in 1962, is getting a new lease on life thanks to the ubiquitous network promos.
