A native of Blackpool, Lancashire, England, legendary singer-songwriter Graham Nash rose to prominence as a co-founder and lead singer for the The Hollies. The Hollies became one of the biggest pop bands of the British invasion, charting ten global hits from 1964-68, including “On A Carousel,” “Stop Stop Stop,” “Carrie Anne,” “King Midas In Reverse,” and “Jennifer Eccles,” all co-written by Graham.
Later that decade, Nash left The Hollies to form Crosby, Stills & Nash with David Crosby and Stephen Stills. The trio soon added Neil Young to become Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, rising to worldwide prominence on the success of such Nash-penned singles as “Our House,” “Teach Your Children,” “Just A Song Before I Go,” “Marrakesh Express,” and “Wasted On The Way.” Over the last four decades, CSN (or CSNY) released eight studio albums and Crosby & Nash another four which have sold over 100 million copies worldwide.
Graham Nash launched a successful solo career, as well, with 1971’s ‘Songs For Beginners.’ His brilliant solo output, ranging from thoughtful observations on love and loss to songs about social justice, include such hits and gems as “Simple Man,” “Chicago,” “Immigration Man,” “Southbound Train,” and “Military Madness.”
Nash is also renowned for his political activism, which include co-founding MUSE (Musicians United for Safe Energy), a series of late-‘70s rallies and concerts credited with swaying public opinion on the safety issue around nuclear energy. His Guacamole Fund, a charity designed to help individuals and communities around the US and the world organize in fighting hunger and poverty, receives a portion of nearly all of Graham’s income from music sales, merch, and tours.
He has been inducted into The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame twice, as a member of The Hollies and CSNY, inducted into the Songwriters Hall Of Fame (along with Crosby and Stills) in 2009, and received an OBE (Order of the British Empire) from the Queen in 2010.
Currently, he’s just wrapped up a solo tour and is embarking on a UK/Europe swing with CSN.
A new solo album, ‘This Path Tonight,’ is slated for release in early 2016.
Spirit’s long-term deal includes all of Graham’s songs written for CSNY as well as his entire solo catalog and going forward work. Many, including all the biggest hits, were written by Graham 100%. He has also contributed brilliant re-records of “Our House” and “Teach Your Children” and plans to record more in the near future. Other than short-lived prior deals with Sony/ATV in the US and Kobalt overseas, this represents Graham’s first true partnership with a publisher and he and his managers are terrifically excited to be joining forces.
