Nathan Barlowe Signs With Spirit Music Nashville/fluid Music Revolution

December 2, 2020
Spirit B Press Release

Nashville, TN (December 2, 2020) – Songwriter, producer, multi-instrumentalist and former frontman of pop rock band Luna Halo, Nathan Barlowe, has signed a worldwide publishing deal with Spirit Music Nashville/Fluid Music Revolution.

Nathan Barlowe’s songs have been recorded by Taylor Swift, Steven Tyler, Keith Urban, Newsboys and Jars of Clay among others. He has had three top 10 Billboard dance singles, a GRAMMY® nomination, and has written songs for movies and television, including The Voice, American Idol, The Equalizer, Transporter and the theme song for the final season of the hit show King of Queens. In 2016 Barlowe became a member of country star Keith Urban’s band. He invented an instrument he dubbed “The Phantom”, which is an electronic sampling machine played like a keyboard. In 2017 Barlowe won a CMA Award for Touring Musician Of The Year.

Barlowe is also former frontman of the pop rock band Luna Halo and was signed by Rick Rubin to his iconic American Recordings label. After Luna Halo disbanded, Barlowe started the band Five Knives who was signed to Red Bull Records and went on to tour with 21 Pilots, Smashing Pumpkins and Icona Pop. They appeared at major EDM festivals such as Electric Zoo and Ultra.

“Nathan and I go back to his early Luna Halo days.  We’ve always tried to figure out a way to work together and this year lined up for us.  Nathan is a great addition to what we are building at Spirit Fluid,” said AJ Burton, Vice President, Fluid Music Revolution.

“I have known AJ a long time, and everyone in Nashville knows of Frank Rogers. It’s exciting for me to be able to start a new chapter in my writing career with these guys and Spirit/Fluid,” said Nathan Barlowe. “I can already tell that we are going to do some great things together!”

Since announcing the appointment of Frank Rogers to Chief Executive Officer of Spirit Music Nashville, the company has made quick impact with a multi-faceted deal with the signing of #1 hit songwriter Jonathan Singleton (including a purchase of a portion of his catalog and a pub deal for future works); the signing GRAMMY® award winning songwriter David Garcia (including a purchase of his catalog and a pub deal for future works); the signing of Music Row’s “Song of the Year” GRAMMY nominated co-writer Jeremy Bussey; the signing of a joint venture with ACM’s “Guitar Player of the Year” Derek Wells and his 2 Mix Music enterprise; as well as the signings of Bobby Hamrick, Brinley Addington, Frank Ray, and Neil Thrasher.

In September of this year, Spirit Music Group announced it had acquired a number of Tim McGraw’s master recordings and last month released the McGraw Machine Hits collection in partnership with Big Machine Label Group.

Recent #1 Country Airplay singles by the company include: Carly Pearce/Lee Brice’s “I Hope You’re Happy Now”; Maddie and Tae’s “Die From A Broken Heart”, Scotty McCreery’s “In Between”;  Kenny Chesney’s “Here and Now”;   Sam Hunt’s “Kinfolks”; Carrie Underwood’s “Southbound”; Chris Janson’s “Good Vibes” and Dustin Lynch’s “Ridin’ Roads”.

Other recent successes by Spirit Music Nashville include a publishing interest in Billboard’s #1 and #2 “Songs of the Decade” (“Meant To Be” via David Garcia and “Body Like a Backroad” via Zach Crowell); the top two Billboard “Albums of the Decade” (Traveller by Chris Stapleton and Montevallo by Sam Hunt); ASCAP’s Song of the Year (“Body Like a Back Road” by Sam Hunt, Zach Crowell and Josh Osborne); SESAC’s Song of the Year (“It Don’t Hurt Like It Used To” by Billy Currington); CMA Song of the Year (“Blue Ain’t Your Color” by Keith Urban) and CMA Album of the Year From a Room: Volume 1 by Chris Stapleton); and a publishing interest in ACM nominations for Song of the Year (“Whiskey & You” by Chris Stapleton); Single of the Year (“Broken Halos” by Chris Stapleton and “Drinkin’ Problem” by Midland) and Songwriter of the Year (Josh Osborne).
