Spirit Music Group Ramps Up Expansion into Master Recordings, Strikes Distribution Deal with Caroline

July 8, 2015
Spirit B Press Release

NEW YORK, NY (July 8, 2015) – In the latest move in a series of rapid signings and acquisitions, Spirit Music Group has signed a North American distribution agreement with Caroline for both current and future master recordings owned by Spirit, as announced today by David Renzer, Chairman, Spirit Music Group. The deal positions Spirit to execute an aggressive master recording acquisition strategy by bolstering its infrastructure for distributing, marketing and promoting masters. The agreement will also help the company maximize revenue generated by its impressive existing catalog of master recordings, which includes legendary records by T. Rex.

“We always want to show both existing and potential clients that Spirit is the best place for artists and songwriters to bring their music, and the opportunity to expand our client service with a distribution deal like this helps us magnify that. Master recordings are an exciting and promising growth area for Spirit, and our deal with Caroline is a key step in helping us realize our potential in that space,” said David Renzer, Chairman, Spirit Music Group.

“Caroline is thrilled to enter a partnership with Spirit Music Group. We are looking forward to providing our suite of services to their portfolio to drive both exposure and revenue for years to come,” said Dominic Pandiscia, President, Caroline.

With years of experience and success in publishing as well as a suite of master recording-oriented services like marketing, promotion, branding, publicity and more, Spirit Music Group offers clients industry-leading support by bringing a full range of both label and publishing services under one roof. The company’s bold expansion plan, which led to the distribution agreement as well as considerable investment in other areas of its business, including country and Christian music, reflects its commitment to make Spirit Music Group the premier destination for music’s most talented artists and songwriters.

In addition to its deal with Caroline, Spirit’s recent deals include signing Jason Ingram, one of Christian music’s most accomplished songwriters, and the acquisition of the Nashville-based independent music publisher, production, and artist management company Cal IV Entertainment, which brought top country writers, artists, and staff into the fold along with 25 number one country copyrights and top ten singles. Spirit also recently acquired the StyleSonic catalog, bringing another four No. 1 country hits to its portfolio as well as over fifteen Top 20 country songs spanning the last decade. Aside from StyleSonic and Cal IV Entertainment, Spirit’s aggressive expansion plans also led to the recent acquisition of leading contemporary Christian catalog West Main Music.
