Spirit Music Group writers received 13 certifications (2 Multi-Platinum, 6 Platinum, and 5 Gold) from the National Music Publishers’ Association (NMPA) for the month of September while Spirit ranked in the Top 10 of overall publisher rankings. Spirit B-Unique’s Johnny McDaid was awarded a Multi-Platinum certificate for one of this year’s hottest global songs with Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You”. Taylor Swift’s No. 1 iTunes song “Look What You Made Me Do” includes an interpolation of “I’m Too Sexy” and credits Spirit’s writers Right Said Fred (Fred Fairbass, Richard Fairbass, and Rob Manzoli) earning a Platinum NMPA certification. In partnership with the RIAA’s Gold & Platinum Program, NMPA finds and certifies the songwriters of RIAA-certified singles. Thousands of songwriters have been recognized since NMPA’s program began in 2007.
