Pure Energy
Pure Energy was an American disco and post-disco music group known for their catchy club anthems like *”You’ve Got the Power”*, *”Breakaway”*, and *”Love Game”*. The band, comprised of Curtis Hudson, Lisa Stevens, Raymond Hudson, and Wade Hudson, made a significant impact on the dance music scene during the early 1980s.
The group signed with **Prism Records** in 1980 and quickly released their self-titled album, which blended elements of disco and R&B. The album produced singles such as *”Party On”* in 1980 and *”You’ve Got the Power”* in 1982, both gaining attention on the club circuit. The track *”You’ve Got the Power”* became a standout hit, solidifying their place in the music scene.
In 1982, **Pure Energy** followed up with *”Breakaway”* and *”Too Hot”*, both of which entered the **Billboard Dance charts**, showcasing the band’s ability to craft dancefloor hits. The songwriting credits for these tracks went to Raymond Hudson, Curtis Hudson, and Lisa Stevens, marking a period of productive collaboration for the group.
In 1983, the band shifted to a more **Italo disco** and **boogie** sound with *”Spaced Out”* and *”Love Game”*. Although *”Spaced Out”* did not chart, it was highlighted by **Billboard** in their Top Single Picks section, a notable achievement for the group. However, *”Love Game”* became a more substantial hit, peaking at #30 on the **Billboard Dance chart**. The track was also remixed by **Morales** and **Munzibai**, further expanding its reach.
In 1984, **Pure Energy** released *”One Hot Night”*, a freestyle track that continued their trend of creating infectious and danceable music. Despite their relatively brief time in the spotlight, the group left an enduring legacy in the world of dance and disco music.
