Black History Month
For Black History Month, we celebrate the incredible contributions of Black artists who have shaped music history and brought joy to generations:
“Let’s Twist Again” (Chubby Checker): Released in 1961, this song not only cemented the Twist dance craze but also marked a turning point in popular culture. Chubby Checker broke barriers, becoming a household name and inspiring people of all backgrounds to hit the dance floor with his infectious energy.
“I Know You, I Live You” (Chaka Khan): Chaka Khan, the Queen of Funk, whose timeless song “I Know You, I Live You” showcases her unmatched vocal prowess and soulful artistry. Released in 1981, this track from her What Cha’ Gonna Do for Me album remains a masterpiece, blending funk, R&B, and jazz into a groove that continues to move hearts and dance floors alike.
