Marc Bolan’s T. Rex are widely credited as the originators of glam rock.

After releasing several acclaimed albums of psychedelic folk music in its first incarnation as Tyrannosaurus Rex, T. Rex burst onto the U.K. music scene with a new sound which was equal parts gritty fuzz guitar and soulful sensuality. Bolan’s look was as exclamatory as his music, highlighted by top hats, feather boas, sequins and glitter.

Through the first half of the ‘70s, T. Rex released sixteen U.K. charted singles (ten that reached the Top 5) including such hits as “Children Of The Revolution,” “20th Century Boy,” “Metal Guru,” “Telegram Sam,” “Solid Gold Easy Action,” and “I Love To Boogie.” At the peak of ‘T. Rextasy,’ Bolan and the band were selling millions of albums and had become one of the continent’s premier live acts.

Though his career was cut tragically short in 1977, his songs and style left an indelible imprint on music and culture, influencing many of the best loved hard rock, punk, and alternative artists who followed.

Spirit is privileged to represent the entire collection of post-1971 songs and recordings of T. Rex and has embarked on an aggressive marketing campaign to promote the legendary rocker’s songs and legacy.
